Declan's Baptism

Declan was baptized today at our church, Bothell First Lutheran. It was a lovely service. His Nana Hamilton, Grammy and Pop Ogden, Uncle Scott, Aunt Kristine, cousin Elias, Aunt Amanda, Uncle Matt, cousin Ava, and our friends Carolyn and Eldon all came to church with us. Richard Edmonds planned a lovely solo song for him called Grow In Grace. Then Pastor Tor Berg had Brad, Declan and I come up with his Godparents Amanda and Matt (Ava came too). Declan sat in my arms and smiled and smiled at Tor! He just stared at him. We promised to help him grow in Christ and support his Christian life. Then Tor explained what baptism is, and put water from the baptismal font all over his head. Then his baptism candle was lit. We're supposed to light it again every year on his anniversary to remind him of his baptism. Tor then carried him down the aisle for the whole church to welcome him. It was really great. After the service we came home and had french toast casserole, quiche, blueberry muffins and fruit. Everyone visited all afternoon and laughed! Miss Ava kept us all very entertained. When she left at the end of the day, she gave Elias a big kiss and then said "who is that guy?" It was hilarious. We were able to talk with his other Godmother, Aunt Whitney in the morning before the service. Then we talked with his Uncle Grant, Aunt Melissa, Thomas, William and Elizabeth at the end of the day.

Ride the Ducks

Nana Hamilton came to visit us and we took her for a Ride the Ducks tour in Seattle. It was so much fun. We had a great time learning facts about Seattle. We laughed so hard our cheeks hurt. Declan was a great boy. He looked around and enjoyed the ride, especially being in the water.

Some firsts!

Declan has had some "firsts" this week. On Monday he had his first diaper blowout, just in time for his dad! On Thursday he slept through the night for the first time! I did not... On Friday morning he pooped in the bath tub for the first time. Afterward he laughed and laughed. Again, I did not. On Friday night he was babysat by his Nana Ham for the first time. Brad and I went to the movies to see Catching Fire. It was great!

Seahawks Sunday

On Sunday we got Declan dressed in his Seahawks outfit from Brittany and headed out to church. We came home and got ready for the game! Declan and Daddy snuggled on the couch to watch the game. Declan cried when I would move just right and block the TV! The Seahawks won and are heading to the Super Bowl!

Great Saturday

We had a very busy week spending lots of time with Great Nana! It was nice to relax Friday night at our house and wake up here Saturday morning. I woke up at 3:25 am surprised that Declan hadn't wanted to eat yet. I thought he was going to sleep through the night, but he woke up about 15 minutes later very hungry! Then he slept until 8 am. Declan went to the hardware store with Daddy while I cleaned up around the house. We got his monkey pole set up in his room so we can hang his stuffed animals and get them out of his crib. I'm sure he'll be ready to start sleeping in there at night time soon. I don't know if I'll be ready for him to do that.
In the afternoon the Linns came over. Earlier in the week we'd had a big windstorm. We didn't know that the post holding up our gate was rotten at the bottom. One big gust of wind pushed it right down! Travis came to help Brad repair it. He also helped to fix the front steps that were wiggly and rotting. While the guys worked outside, Sandi and I took Andria, Sage and Declan to Tambark Park to play. Declan took a nap while the girls went on the swings and played. We got pretty cold walking home so we had hot chocolate with marshmallows and watched The Little Mermaid.  Afterwards the girls snuggled Declan and played with him on his exercise mat. Later we had tacos for dinner. Now Daddy and Declan are both sleeping on the couch while I'm watching a show. I guess they are both worn out!
