Pumpkin Carving

We carved Declan's pumpkin last night. We had a great time. He sat in his chair and patted the pumpkin while Brad opened the top. When Brad pulled the top off Declan cried a little! I think he didn't understand what was happening. When he saw the hole he stuck his hand in and started pulling pumpkins guts out! He was laughing and smiling. Declan tasted the guts and tried to eat a seed. He seemed to like the orange goop and wanted to eat more.  Brad gave him a spoon and he tried to use it in the pumpkin. Once we got it carved and put a candle in it he just sat and stared at the light.

Bath time, piano playing and more!

Declan had the best time in the bath the other night. Here he is:

Thursday Declan and I went to library story time. He loved the little piano there, so I happened to find one later in the day for $2! He was so excited to play it.

We've also been playing some basketball at our house. He finally figured out how to shoot hoops!!

Here's our wingman:

Arizona October Trip Day 2, 3, 4

On Friday, Grammy, Declan and I spent time around Great Nana's house. We also walked to Kohl's and I got a dress for the wedding. Daddy and Pops went for a hike. When they came back, we went to the pool. Declan dipped his toes in the pool and wanted to swim, but the rules say he's not allowed in the water! In the afternoon we headed to the airport to pick up our rental car to drive to the rehearsal dinner. Declan came along with us and was a perfect guest. We wandered around the Boojum Tree and then went to Isabella's for the dinner. We sat outside in the sunshine and it was a great evening!

The following morning, Brad headed out for the wedding first thing. Declan and I stayed with his grandparents and we played in the green way, went for a walk and went to the pool! In the afternoon, Grammy and Pops dropped me off at the wedding and took Declan home for the evening. Brad and I had a nice time at the wedding. The venue was eclectic western decor and it was really pretty. Can you believe that I didn't take any pictures??

On Sunday, Brad and Pops once again headed out for a hike. We took Declan to the flea market for a little shopping. I've already started my Christmas shopping! He was a great shopper. In the afternoon we went to the pool and played with Daddy.

Arizona October Trip - Day 1!

At the beginning of October we flew to Phoenix. Brad was a groomsman in the Luthman's wedding in Scottsdale. Grammy and Pops came along to bask in the sunshine and watch Declan while we were at the wedding. Since we had Great Nana's home to stay in, we decided to have a little vacation too!

We arrived on Wednesday night and got to our place about 11 pm. Of course Declan was wide awake since he slept the whole way down. He was perfect on the plane! We got him settled. Thursday morning was a day of stocking the house with necessities, but we still had time for some fun. Brad hadn't been to Joe's Real BBQ before so after running errands we went for lunch. Just after we sat down to eat Declan had a first: he puked all over himself and Brad's foot and leg! It was disgusting. The funniest part was after the initial shock, he picked up some food and kept right on eating! HAHA! I think he was just over heated. We got him cleaned up and changed. Then we all enjoyed our sandwiches and especially our giant root beer floats!

After lunch I spotted the Gilbert water tower and suggested we walk over and check it out.... in the 98 degree sun! We found a fountain park for Declan to play in! He didn't get too wet, but we all cooled down!

Splash pad and Boyce Thompson Arboretum

After Brad left us on Monday, it was HOT! We took Declan to the Mesa Riverwalk splash pad. We had a lot of fun playing in the water. There are three large play structures, all in Seahawk colors.

On Tuesday, it was a little cooler about 94. We went to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum and spent the day wandering, looking at dessert plants, butterflies, and lizards. We had a picnic lunch and really enjoyed our day together. After we went to the pool!
