First day of preschool

Since Declan has a November birthday he's too young to start 3 year old preschool this fall. Declan and I decided to do it at home together. Brad and I reorganized our office into a little play and preschool room. I've been busy organizing materials and getting ready.
Today was our first day. Declan loved it. We started off checking the weather and doing the calendar. Next we sang the days of the week, months of the year and the ABC train song he loves. This involved a lot of dancing and clapping too. Then we did our abcs, numbers, shapes and colors. We practiced spelling and writing Declan's name. Then we read Chicka, Chicka, Boom Boom.
Our letter this week is A. We looked at the letter a, talked about it's sounds and then  we tried using our dot markers to make the shape. This turned into a little bit of play time with the dot markers. Next we traced and  colored the letter A and looked at a paper with items that started with A. We sang our apple poem and Declan danced for me while we sang.

For math we did an apple seed count and had to find numbers 1-5. Then we read a couple of more stories and did our counting bears.

Last we talked about what day tomorrow is and cleaned up our supplies.

We had a really great first day!
